This 3D wall decor is designed based on a vintage New Zealand post stamp from 1935, depicting a Tuatara sitting on a rock.
The piece consists of 8 different layers made of bamboo wood, mirror, and acrylic material. Each layer has been laser cut and engraved with the texture of the original stamp design and has been artfully assembled by hand to create this stunning 3D display.
The Tuatara depicted is a New Zealand native reptile which is the only surviving member of the “Sphenodontians” which flourished around 200 million years ago. The name "Tuatara" derives from the Māori language meaning "peaks on the back".
One of the images shows the original post stamp in comparison to the piece.
The dimensions are:
Height: 22 cm / 8.7 inch
